Cricket's Three Formats and Major Tournaments

jeetbuzz Cricket Tournaments and Formats

Cricket fans in Bangladesh have a deep connection with all three formats. T20 is the fastest version — matches wrap up in just 20 overs and the situation can change with every ball. In ODI, each team plays fifty overs, where longer partnerships and game plans decide the result. And Test cricket is a five-day test of patience — the most classic form of the game.

Among the tournaments that attract the most attention on jeetbuzz, BPL sits at the top. This Bangladeshi T20 league holds a special place for local fans because they get to watch their favourite players. Alongside it, the number and variety of markets grows noticeably during the IPL and T20 World Cup seasons. Betting markets also stay active for various international series organised by the ICC.

Each format calls for its own betting approach. In T20, the toss and powerplay overs can shift markets quickly. In ODI, mid-game momentum matters. In Test matches, pitch behaviour and weather play a big role. If you treat betting as entertainment, understanding these differences makes the whole experience more interesting.

Popular Betting Markets

Several markets are available in the cricket section at jeetbuzz. For beginners, starting with the simpler markets is the sensible approach.

Easiest

Match Winner

Pick which of the two teams will win. There is no draw in T20 or ODI. Example: Team A and Team B are playing — you choose Team B, and if Team B wins, your bet is successful.

Quick Market

Toss Winner

Decided before the match begins. Will Team A or Team B win the toss? Because the probability is nearly equal, the odds on this market are usually very close.

Performance Market

Top Batsman

Who will score the most runs in an innings or the full match? You pick a specific batter from a team, and if they score the most runs, you win the bet.

Runs Market

Total Runs Over / Under

Will the total runs in a match or innings be more than ("Over") or fewer than ("Under") a set number? Pitch conditions and weather have a big influence on this market.

Bowling Market

Top Bowler

Who will take the most wickets in an innings or the match? The team's pace attack and the pace of the pitch can determine the result of this market.

Multi Bet

Multi Bet (Multiple Selections)

Combine multiple matches or markets in a single bet. The odds are multiplied together, so the potential return goes up. But if one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost — this option is available at jeetbuzz Bet.

How to Read Odds in Three Formats

Odds at jeetbuzz can be shown in three formats — Decimal, Fractional and American. All three express the same probability, just written differently.

Format Team A Win Odds Team B Win Odds
Decimal 2.50 1.50
Fractional 3/2 1/2
American +150 -200

Example 1 — Team A: If you bet ৳1,000 and Team A wins, your total return is ৳2,500 (৳1,500 profit + ৳1,000 original stake). If Team A loses, you lose ৳1,000.

Example 2 — Team B (favourite): Team B's odds are 1.50 (Decimal) or -200 (American). American minus odds show how much you need to stake to make a profit of 100. Bet ৳1,000 and if Team B wins, you get back ৳1,500 (৳500 profit).

Multi Bet Example

Say you place three separate selections together:

Selection 1 Odds: 1.60
Selection 2 Odds: 1.80
Selection 3 Odds: 1.90

Combined Odds: 1.60 × 1.80 × 1.90 = 5.47

If all selections are correct on a ৳100 bet, your return is ৳547. If even one selection is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost.

Live In-Play — Betting Mid-Match

jeetbuzz Live In-Play Betting Odds Update
Live Betting

Live betting adds a different dimension to cricket. You can place bets even after the match has started, and odds keep changing with every ball. When a wicket falls, the batting team's win odds rise; a big six or a four brings them back down.

Wicket Falls

Team A is batting and five wickets are down — Team A's win odds go up, Team B's odds come down. The market adjusts automatically at that moment.

Fast Runs in the Powerplay

Team A is scoring quickly in the first six overs — both the Over/Under market and the Match Winner market will move.

In the death overs (the last five overs), every ball can shift the market significantly. Odds change fastest during this period, so live betting takes close attention to follow.

Football and Other Sports

Alongside cricket, you can also bet on football at jeetbuzz. Since a draw is a separate result in football, the Match Winner market offers three options — Team A wins, Team B wins, or Draw. In T20 or ODI cricket there is no draw, so only two options are available.

In cricket, major seasonal tournaments (BPL, IPL, ICC) keep the market active throughout, while football follows a separate calendar of European leagues and international tournaments. In other sports — such as badminton or tennis — markets are generally limited to Match Winner and set-by-set markets.

The differences in game rules also shape betting strategy. In cricket, the pitch, weather and wicket conditions are the key factors, while in football, goalkeeper form and midfield control matter more.

Beyond sports, card game entertainment is also available at jeetbuzz. If you want to play Tongits Go card game or the Super Keno lottery-style game, their own pages have full details.

Things to Keep in Mind Before You Start Betting

01

Betting is entertainment, not a source of income

Think of betting the same way you think of watching a film or watching cricket — it's entertainment. Only set aside a budget you can afford to lose without it being a problem. Read jeetbuzz's responsible gaming guidelines.

02

Start with one market

If you are new, the Match Winner market is the simplest place to start. Once you understand how it works, gradually explore markets like Total Runs or Top Batsman.

03

Decimal odds are the easiest to understand

For beginners, the Decimal format is the most straightforward — stake × odds = total return. At odds of 2.50, a ৳1,000 bet returns ৳2,500 if you win.

04

Don't rush in live betting

Odds change quickly, leaving little time to decide. If you don't have a clear read on the situation, it's better to stay out of the live market.

05

Multi Bet carries higher risk

Multi Bet offers a higher potential return, but if one selection is wrong, everything is lost. It's therefore wise not to place large amounts on a Multi Bet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both BPL and IPL offer markets including Match Winner, Toss Winner, Top Batsman, Top Bowler, Total Runs Over/Under and Multi Bet. Live in-play markets also stay active throughout the tournaments.

In T20, with only 20 overs per side, matches finish quickly and live markets shift very fast. Test matches have a five-day result and a draw is a possible outcome, so there are three options (Team A win, Team B win, draw). Tests can also have markets based on individual innings.

In live betting, odds update with every event in the match. When a wicket falls, the batting team's win odds go up. A big partnership or fast scoring brings the batting team's odds down. Markets are also adjusted based on the run rate calculated at the end of each over. These changes happen fastest in the death overs.

For beginners, decimal odds are the easiest — just remember: stake × odds = total return. Fractional is the traditional British method, and the American format uses plus/minus to show profit and the required stake. All three formats express the same probability, just written differently.

A multi bet lets you include several selections, and all the odds are multiplied together to form combined odds. The more selections you add, the higher the potential return — but if even one is wrong, the entire bet is lost. So adding more selections also increases the risk. Each selection can be from a different match or a different market.
